APC Leaders Behind Saraki’s Ordeal, Says Party Stalwart

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ilorin, Kwara State,  Salau Alabi Olorin, has blamed the leadership of the party  for what he called ‘unfair treatment being meted out’  to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

Speaking with newsmen in Ilorin yesterday, Olorin also condemned the alleged silence of President Muhammadu Buhari over the ongoing development, which he said ‘smacks of persecution’ of Saraki.

He said the leadership of the APC was not being fair to Saraki, despite his contributions to the success of the party in the last election.

“What is happening is clear to the blind that Senator Bukola Saraki is a victim of political persecution. We are all witnesses to the high level resentment to his emergence as Senate President by some interests in the APC.

“It is clear that those against Saraki are up in arms again, in an evil and devilish plot to remove him but they will fail. Is it not suspicious that he is being prosecuted for an offence allegedly committed some 13 years ago when he was governor? Was the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) not awake to its responsibility then? Something is fishy somewhere,” he said.

Similarly, the Kwara State chapter of the APC has condemned calls by some groups for the resignation of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

The party also expressed concern over alleged threat to the life of the Senate President.

In a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary in the state, Sulyman Buhari, the party said the calls for Saraki’s resignation were being sponsored by those opposed to his emergence as Senate President.

“We wish to unequivocally and categorically condemn, reject and dismiss the call for the resignation of Senate President Bukola Saraki by sponsored faceless groups and bought souls,” the statement said.
