Residents of Nissi Village in Maraban Rido, Kaduna State are still waiting in anxiety over what to make of what some people described as an apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This is as the Parish Priest of St Augustine’s Catholic Church Mahuta, under whose jurisdiction Maraban Rido fell, Rev Father Eric Mallam has said that the Church had yet to speak on the matter.

The apparition was said to have appeared to one Mrs Rose Emmanuel Markus while she worked at her garden around 10 am last week. According to an eyewitness who spoke to Daily Independent, the shadowy image appeared on the front wall of the house.

It was gathered that as soon as the news spread within the neighbourhood of the image, the entire place was turned to a pilgrimage centre.

Though different stories have been peddled by people about the apparition, some alleged that miracles also took place at the venue.

One of those that saw the said apparition, Miss Cynthia Emmanuel, a relation of Rose, said that the Blessed Virgin Mary gave her  messages for mankind, among which was the need for repentance as many souls were heading to hell. She said, the Blessed Virgin Mary had cried bitterly that the road to hell was over crowded with souls languishing on daily basis while the road to heaven was scanty with few souls travelling through it despite the death of her son on the Cross of Calvary.

Cynthia said that the Blessed Mary warned her against adding or removing anything from the message, adding that the youths were particularly warned the youths on the dangers of the sins of fornication as well as indecent dressing by women.

Rev Father Eric Mallam who also visited the apparition site has appealed for caution, stating that the Church had yet to make any official pronouncement. Nevertheless, were still visiting the site at Markus’ residence as at the time of filling this report.
