No fewer than four coaches have been linked with the Kano Pillars coaching  job after Okey Emordi was sacked by the club.

Emordi, a CAF Coach of the Year award winner in 2004, was sacked on Monday following the team’s 3-3 draw with Lobi Stars despite the Pyramid City side taking a 3-0 lead.

Sources revealed that former Super Eagles assistant coach, Daniel Amokachi, is among the four coaches wanting to replace Emordi.

The others include former Flying Eagles coach, Manu Garba; Mohammed Babaganaru, who is Nasarawa United coach; and Belgian ex- FC IfeanyiUbah coach, Mitko Dobrev.

We learnt that Mitko’s curriculum vitae is with the club already.

Amokachi has been linked with several clubs since Stephen Keshi dropped him as his assistant in the national team.

Before he joined the Eagles, Amokachi has coached Nasarawa United and Enyimba.

“Amokachi has already been in touch with one or two of the people who will influence the decision on a new coach for Pillars,”a top source informed

“He also seems to enjoy the confidence of one or two of those on the new board, but it is left to be seen if he can go on well with them when it comes to the crunch.”

Babaganaru, on the other hand, led Pillars to win two successive league championships before he was eased out by former Pillars boss, Abba Yola. He worked for several years as assistant coach at Pillars as well.

Babaganaru is in his second year as coach of Nasarawa, but it is yet to be ascertained if he wishes to return to Pillars after the acrimonious manner he was sent packing two seasons ago.

However, we learnt that the new board may call for applications even though the time is short as the league will resume after a two-week break.

It would be recalled that Pillars sacked Emordi on Monday.

According to Pillars’ Media Officer, Idris Malikawa, the newly inaugurated board headed by Kabiru Baita, approved Emordi’s dismissal owing to poor results.

He disclosed that Ahmed ‘Yaro Yaro’ Garba is the coach in the interim.

Pillars has been a shadow of itself this season as it is currently ninth on the table with 27 points, nine points behind leaders Sunshine Stars and Enyimba.

Pillars crashed out of the CAF Champions League in the First Round and was also knocked out of the Federation Cup in the Round of 32.

Daboere Dokubo of Sharks FC, Kelechi Enmetiole of Rangers, Franklin Howard of 3SC and Solomon Ogbeide of Bayelsa United are some coaches that have been sacked this season.
