Ambode Presents 23 Commissioners, 13 SAs For Screening

Ayorinde, Bamigbetan, Six Fashola’s Appointees Make List

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode on Monday presented the list of would-be cabinet members to the House of Assembly for screening.

The governor also nominated Architect Kabiru Ahmed Abdullahi and Fuwad Alade-Oki as chief executive officers of Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission and Lagos State Safety Commission respectively for confirmation by the House.

The three letters from the governor conveying the names of of the nominees for appointments were read on the floor of the Assembly by  House Clerk, Ganiyu Abiru.

The governor, in the list of cabinet members is requesting for the screening and approval of 36 persons with 23 as Commissioners and 13 as Special Advisers.

Amongst the names are six former cabinet members from the Babatunde Raji Fashola administration including former commissioner for Agriculture, Gbolahan Lawal; former Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris; former Special Adviser, Central Business District, Folarin Coker; former Special Adviser, Commerce and Industry, Seye Oladejo; former Special Adviser, Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ganiyu Johnson and former Special Adviser on Rural Development, Babatunde Hunpe.

Others are Mrs. Yetunde Onabolu, Fela Bank-Olemoh, Akinyemi Ashade, a partner in KPMG; former Managing Director, National Mirror, Steve Ayorinde; Alhaja Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf; a pharmacist, Kehinde Joseph and Prof. Ademola Abass, a professor of Law.

Other names include Dr. Akintola Benson, former Special Adviser, Political and Legislative Powers Bureau, Dr. Abdul-Hakeem Abdul-Lateef; Dr. Mohammed Akinkunmi, former member, House of Representatives, Dr. Babatunde Adejare; Dr. Femi Onanuga, CEO of LAMATA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola; Engr. Ade Akinsanya, Arch. Wasiu Anifowoshe, former member House of Assembly, Mrs. Lola Akande, Agboola Dabiri, Ganiu Okanlomo Sanni, Anofi Elegushi, Rotimi Ogunleye, Mrs Adebimpe Akinsola, Femi Odubiyi, Alhaji Musiliu Folami, Adeniji Kazeem, Toyin Suarau, Babatunde Durosinmi-Etti, Deji Tinubu, Mrs. Mudirat Giwanson, former Chairman, Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Adeyemi Labinjo, and former Chairman, Ejigbo LCDA, Kehinde Bamigbetan.

The screening of the list is expected to commence immediately after the Sallah holidays while cleared cabinet members would likely be sworn in to resume the task of governance by Monday, October 5, 2015.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State House of Assembly has resolved to send a special delegation to commiserate with the Awolowo family over the demise of Mama HID Dideolu Awolowo.

At Monday’s plenary, the House observed a minute silence in honour Mama Awolowo, with many lawmakers paying glowing tributes to her for standing by her husband, late Chief Obafemi Awolowo and helping him to achieve a lot for humanity while on earth.

Mojisola Lawal representing Apapa 1 had brought up the death of Mama Awolowo under matters of urgent public importance, with many members describing late HID as a woman of substance who should be emulated by all, especially the women.

Some of the contributors include Olanrewaju Jimoh, Braimoh Tunde, David Setonji, Adedamola Kasunmu and Sikiru Osinowo.

Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, in his comment, recalled that many people benefited from the free education policy started by the late Awolowo, and that the family would forever be relevant in Nigeria.

He instructed the House Clerk to write a letter to commiserate with the Awolowo family, while some members would be selected to pay a condolence visit to Ikene to commiserate with the family.
