The Alake of Egba land, Oba Michael Gbadebo, has made a case for Adeola Adeniji who was recently promoted as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police to be appointed the next Inspector General (IG) of Police.

Oba Gbadebo made the plea in Abeokuta during a reception organised for Adeniji by some Egba traditional rulers.

“Though our own Adeola Adeniji has few months to retirement, I believe with his sterling quality, he can be appointed the next Inspector General of Police,” the Oba said.

Alake further stated that the Egba people, who have always distinguished themselves in their respective careers, were able to produce a DIG for the first time.

He urged the Federal Government to appoint Adeniji as the next IG because of his track records of achievement.

“Adeniji is a dedicated and committed police officer whose wealthy of experience the country will benefit from if appointed as head of police force in Nigeria”.

The Alake also commended the role of police in ensuring peaceful conduct of last general elections in the country.

The heroic reception attracted prominent Egba sons and daughters, including the Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, who was represented by Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa.
