Aladenika joins race for NUJ presidency

Former chairman of Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), Mike Adelegan Aladenika, has joined the ranks of contestants for the office of the national president of the union.
He stated that his campaign is hinged on his desire to address some welfare issues affecting members of the union with a promise to set up a national network media centre at the national secretariat of the NUJ and also at the 37 NUJ councils around the states within his first 18 months in office.
He stressed that the project will give employment to over 100 journalists across the country.
Aladenika said that he would source for sponsorship and training partners within and outside the country.
 “We will also establish multinational scholarship endowment which will avail our qualified members to attend professional courses and training within and overseas,” he averred.
Aladenika said that his leadership of the NUJ “will advocate regular and prompt payment of salaries and allowances from our employers at both the government and privately owned media houses.
