Supporters of the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala has said that because no governor in the state had ever won re-election in the state, the story would not be different for the incumbent governor Abiola Ajimobi.

Hence, the incumbent governor was told to start preparing his hand-over note because Akala would be returned elected as the next governor of the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

At a press conference addressed by the spokesperson of the group, Oludare Ogunlana, he said, starting from the Second Republic when the then governor of the state, Bola Ige of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) lost re-election in 1983, all his successors like Victor Omololu Olunloyo, Kolapo Ishola, Lam Adesina, Rashidi Ladoja and recently Alao-Akala had all failed to get re-election.

He said that had made the issue of second term already to become a taboo for any serving governor in the state.?
