Awka – If Godwin Ezeemo, governorship candidate of Progressives People’s Alliance (PPA), failed to clinch the governorship seat of Anambra State in 2013 because he came out late, it will not repeat itself this time, traditional rulers from Aguata Local Government Area, his home local government area, have vowed.

The governorship election for Anambra State is slated for 2017.

“The people of Aguata Local Government Area and their traditional rulers would be solidly behind him this time because he has all the qualities needed to govern Anambra State, Igwe Paul Egbuator, the traditional ruler of Amesi in Aguata Local Area declared.

Igwe Egbuator made the declaration on behalf of other traditional rulers in Aguata at the Cathedral Church of St. John Hall, Ekwulobia, at the weekend shortly before Ezeemo commissioned the party’s office in the town.

He added: “We have run the race the first time and missed it. This time, we won’t miss it because Ezeemo has all the all the qualities of governance and we must support him.”

Ezeemo while addressing the press said it was not a day for campaign but to open the party’s office and when campaign begins, he would unfold his manifesto.

He said that Anambra State was blessed with virtually everything that can make a state or even a nation great and so deserves the best.

Ezeemo said that his confidence came from God and that he wanted to take the boldest step to restore the dignity of Anambrarians.

“My appeal to Anambrarians is to banish sentimental reasoning when it comes to choosing who rules this state and secure their future, the future of their children and their children’s children.”

He said he would not accept rented crowd during his campaign and that money must play a second fiddle and “my promise is quality leadership.”

Comrade Mathias Ameke, state chairman of PPA, boasted that the spirit of PPA was very strong and that nobody should touch it and appealed to all to join the party.

However, Chief Edwin Obiora Ejimbe, director of Ezeemo Campaign Organisation, urged Aguata people to form the core support group for their son and appreciate his kind gestures to people.

He believed that if Ezeemo gets into the Government House, things would be better and urged members of the party to be committed to it and assume full ownership of it.

He added, “In the last dispensation, Aguata people said Ezeemo did not come out early. This time they should not have any complaint,” he stated.
