All Africa Games Camp Opens Friday –Yakmut

Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC) has said that arrangements for final camping of Nigerian athletes for the All Africa Games (AAG) holding in Congo Brazzaville will open July 4  in Lagos and Abuja.

Yakmut disclosed in Abuja that  six sports; weightlifting, wrestling, badminton, tennis, boxing and table tennis would open the camps, adding that  boxing and table tennis would camp in Lagos while the rest would be hosted at the new Athletes Hostel in Abuja.

“Talking about the All Africa Games, we are getting set and the stage we are now is that on the 4th of July that is on Saturday we are expecting weightlifting, wrestling as well as badminton, tennis, boxing and table tennis to be in camp. Boxing and table tennis will be in Lagos, there is a 44- bed hostel that the current Chief of Army Staff who is also the President of Nigeria Boxing Federation facilitated and it will be commissioned on the 28th of July. So since we intend to open the camp on the 4th, we are going to meet with them to find a way out of it.”

Nigeria has also qualified for other team sports, including football, basketball, handball and volleyball.
