Everything seems set for the 2nd leg of the Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN) Golden League billed for Kaduna on June 27, at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium.

Suddenly, news came that Kaduna state government is unable to host the tournament, after athletes and officials had arrived the state for the competition.

On learning that the venue has been changed, anger and frustration registered on the faces of athletes. The federation swiftly got Abuja to host the tournament which turned out very successful.

However, it was reported that the federation failed to apologise to the athletes for shifting the venue of the competition at short notice.

They strongly believe that the federation was aware of the difficulties some athletes and officials went through as result of the change in venue which ought to have attracted an apology, but nothing of such was done.

The federation, according to one of the secretaries expressed regret for putting the athletes through such difficulties, adding that, though; the apology was not made in public, the federation still believes the athletes’ would understand and excuse the federation.
