Airport Council International (ACI) and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) have highlighted the benefits of collaboration among aviation partners to find solutions to the several challenges facing the aviation industry in Africa.

This is just as FAAN said that it will continue to play a leading role in advocating for collaboration among airports in the continent. They spoke at the 53rd Airports Council International (ACI) Africa board meeting and Regional conference and exhibition in Casablanca, Morocco.

Managing Director of FAAN, Engr. Saleh Dunoma, stated that the forum provided an avenue for aviation experts in both Africa continent and the world at large to exchange ideas on how to move the air transport industry forward.

According to him, “the conference will certainly offer us an excellent opportunity to share our experiences and best practices in sustainable development as well as in airport safety and security”.

Speaking further, Dunoma stated that the introduction of the aviation portal, toll free call centres and the liberalisation of the aviation sector has stimulated awareness and growth in the sector.

In his words, “Nigerian airports are playing important international roles in linking the most populous country in the African continent to the rest of the world, and the containment of the Ebola virus remains a shining example of a successful collaboration”.

He said that the forum with the theme, “Collaboration for Safe, Secure and Sustainable Aviation in Africa” will address improvements in aviation safety and security in the light of new threats affecting the industry.

The Director-General of ACI worldwide, Angela Gittens, he said spoke on the benefits of collaboration within the industry from the perspective of the airports.

The FAAN boss stated that President of ACI Africa, Pascal Komla while welcoming delegates, said that the event provided a unique opportunity for aviation executives, experts and exhibitors from across the globe to network, share information and forge a common vision for the future businesses of African airports.

Dunoma said that the 53rd ACI Africa board meeting and regional conference and exhibition presented a platform for industry experts to come together and explore the challenges faced by the continent and find solutions that would boost the economic growth of Africa.
