Benin – Accord Party has finalised arrangements to take the issue of its governorship candidate for the September 10 election to court for adjudication.

The party also cautioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against recognising Pedro Obaseki as the party’s candidate for the election.

Dr. Samson Isibor, Edo State Chairman of the party, while speaking with journalists in Benin on Tuesday said the court action was being contemplated following attempt by Mohammed Nalado, the sacked former National chairman, to impose Pedro Obaseki on the party as its gubernatorial candidate.

Isibor said the party had earlier taken a decision to arrest any person impersonating as the party’s governorship candidate as the state executive did not recognise Pedro Obaseki as their candidate.

“Accord Party has informed the public that the said Obaseki is never a card-carrying member of Accord Party in Edo State.

“Any purported primary organised by him is illegal; we implore the good people of Edo State to ignore whatsoever comes out of the kangaroo primary,” he stated.
