A leading Nigerian courier and cargo firm, ABX World, Nigeria has entered into partnership with Arik Air and Skyway Aviation Grand Handling Company (SAHCOL) to  develop, promote  and export agro allied products to markets across Europe.

The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the company, Capt John Okakpu, who made this known in Lagos at the weekend, added that ABX World is EU certified cargo agent.

He stated that Nigeria had immense agricultural potential despite the fact that only 40 per cent of the country’s 84 million hectares of arable land were cultivated in addition to having 263 billion cubic metres of water.

Okakpu further stated that the company having been certified by the he Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) as an authorised cargo agent was set for an unrivalled speedy export of agro-allied produce, especially perishable items such as vegetables and fruits.

According to him, “the stability and sustainability of the world economy have been and still depend on agriculture, because agriculture is the major source of survival for man, animals and the industrial sectors through the provision of food and raw materials according to STAN in 2000” .

Okakpu stated that Nigeria had the required manpower to support agricultural expansion, adding that with an estimated 80 million farmers, Nigeria can cultivate enough food for its people and feed the world.

He added that ABX World was confident that tapping into the sector could only be sustainable when the private sector expertise was allowed to thrive

“There is the need to engage the private sector, investors, local banks and International Financial Institutions with the view of connecting (Supply chain) the vast investment opportunities of Nigeria Agriculture with local and international investors.
