Engr. Mupwaya’s appointment is coming on the heels of the retirement of Mr. Neil Croucher after his three year tenure.

Neil Croucher’s role in steering the AEDC successfully through the challenges of post privatization from 2013 to date is very significant, the organization said through a Press statement.

The Board of Directors expressed it’s satisfaction with Mr. Croucher’s more than 37 years of extensive experience in all aspects of the electricity supply business which straddles all the three value chains of generation, transmission and distribution, as well as a stint in Regulatory affairs.

According to the statement, the appointment of Engr. Mupwaya, takes effect from August 1 2016, but is subject to approval by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

It also announced the approval of a new Management Structure for the Company with a Corporate Services Directorate created to supervise five different functions, including Human Resources, Procurement, Government and Regulatory Relations, Public Relations and Fleet & Facilities Management.

Engr. Mupwaya, until his new appointment, was the Director of Commercial Services of the Company and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering as well as an MBA.

Mupwaya’s career which spans about 30 years in the Electricity Industry, has seen him serving in several Senior Management Positions which includes; Managing Director, Director, Divisional Manager, Regional Manager, Project Manager, and Senior Engineer for the Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation (ZESCO).

The new Managing Director is not only assuming his new post with broad experience in the electricity supply industry, he has also worked very closely with Mr. Croucher over the past three years in AEDC, thereby enhancing a smooth transition, the statement said.

The Board tasked Engr. Mupwaya to take advantage of the existing opportunities to build on the successes recorded by the Company under the outgoing Managing Director.

Engr. Mupwaya is a member of several professional bodies and social organisations such as the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
