Lagos – Godwin Adindu, President-General, Abia Renaissance Movement (ARM), has stated that Mr. Uche Ogah, who was given a certificate of return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) cannot buy the people of Abia with his wealth.

The Abuja High Court in June nullified the election of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu as governor of Abia State following some discrepancies noticed in his tax documents.

The court then asked INEC to issue certificate of return to Uche Ogah who was defeated in the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship primary.

However, Adindu advised Ogah and his followers to stop dreaming that they can remove the governor using their wealth.

“The only thing they have brought to Abia today to their argument is the profile of wealth and money got through illegal business. They don’t have record of what they have done for the masses of Abia. They don’t have record of welfare programme they have brought to the masses of Abia”, he alleged.

Adindu, who described as coup d’état, the attempt to unseat Ikpeazu as a civilian governor, expressed gratitude to God that it failed through the massive support of Abia people.

“It was a case of civilian coup d’état occasioned by some dubious individuals who want to bring back the hand of the clock in Abia State.

“What happened on that black Thursday was a well planned, rehearsed but God in his mercy did not allow them to execute it.

“Their aim was to destabilise the state, destabilise the development Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has brought to the state in the last one year.

“This is the governor that within one year constructed over 65 roads in the state and others are ongoing,” Adindu stated.

On the case before the Appeal Court, he expressed optimism that the governor would emerge victorious.

“We are very optimistic that the case would favour the governor because there is no legal ground for the judgment that was declared by Justice Abang of the Abuja High Court,” he also said.

He stated that since there was no case of forgery, falsification and tax evasion by the governor, the people of Abia were confident that the number one citizen would come out victorious and continue with the good works he has started in the state.
