The Returning Officer for Abia North Senatorial District during the last Presidential and National Assembly elections, Mr Iheakweaba Chukwugoziem, has claimed that his life is under threat following numerous unknown telephone calls he has received since after the

election in the state.

Chukwugoziem, who said this while speaking to newsmen in Umuahia, called for a re-run election for Abia North, especially at Ohafia, Arochukwu and Ummunnochi, because, according to him, he has not declared result from that zone and wondered where results for the area were emanating from.

He said irregularities arising from the ballot did not afford him the opportunity to declare winner for the zone, stressing further that

because of his actions and positions, his life has been under threat by unknown individuals who kept calling and sending several text messages to declare the result or face assassinated.

Chukwugoziem, who is an Associate Professor and Head of Computer Engineering Department at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture,

Umudike, said for the poll result to be conclusive, there was need to review results from Ohafia, Arochukwu and Ummunnochi areas respectively.

The returning officer, who dismissed speculations of working in favour of any political party in the state, insisted that for election to be conclusive, INEC should ensure the review of the affected areas that were characterised by irregularities before results could be declared in the zone.
