Abia State government has banned media jingles eulogizing the name and  person of the governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, stressing that the governor is not interested in such things.

The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Godwin Adindu, in a statement onWednesday, June 17, 2015, notified all radio stations and electronic media channels in the state to withdraw all such praise-singing jingles.

Adindu also called on individuals and political groups who meant well for the governor and are  expressing  their  love and satisfaction  through jingles and music to hold their peace as the governor has moved on to another level of work and service  delivery to the people.

He also advised jingle producers and itinerant CD marketers to stop producing or playing jingles that eulogize the name of the governor to high heavens, but to deploy their energy to other meaningful endeavour that will add values to the state.

Adindu disclosed that part of the vision of the governor is to chart a new course for the state and this involves jettisoning some old ways that do not add to governance, adding, “campaign and the elections are over and that it is now time for governance and service to the people which are the major preoccupation of Governor Ikpeazu for now.”
