Abia State Government and cross section of Nigerians have frowned at the invasion of the country residence of two time member of the House of Representatives and current Commissioner for Works in Abia State, Eziuche Ubani in the wee hours of Tuesday’s morning.

To this end, Abia State Government has demanded an unreserved apology from the rampaging security agencies comprised of the Department of State Security and the Nigerian Army, saying it was embarrassed by the unwarranted, condemnable and unacceptable.
According to the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, who spoke through his Information and Strategy Commissioner Bonnie Iwuoha at Ovom, Obingwa Local Government Area, the Government of Abia State feel highly embarrassed by the invasion especially when the victim is a peace loving and had served the nation in a higher capacity.
He warned those whose trade is to forward false information to security agencies to desist from such business, warning that henceforth those whose penchant was rumour mongering would be dealt with decisively and that those funding them would soon have themselves to blame.
Briefing newsmen on the invasion, Ubani, an accomplished Journalist and Radio Station Proprietor said the invasion took place at about 2am by a combined team of Department of State Security and the Army that came in Six Hilux vans.
He continued that the invaders not only broke his gate, but also scaled the fence and held him hostage for four hours, adding that the team led by Stephen Agu from the Abuja headquarters of the DSS said they had reports that arms and ammunition were being stockpiled in his residence.
Furthermore, he explained that Agu informed him that the report from the opposition All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, indicated that the stockpiling of the arms and ammunition was aimed at the assassinating the members of the opposition, as those recruited for the assassination were also be in trained inside the premises.
Ubani said the team thoroughly searched his house and compound including water storage tanks, broke his wardrobe, climbed into the ceiling and inflicted bodily injuries on his driver and after being satisfied that nothing near the allegations were found, indicated so in their report.
He wondered why state institutions could be so hoodwinked and used blazingly to harass innocent members of the public, wondering where Nigeria was heading to.
It would be recalled that the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Alex Otti, who recently secured a vital victory at the Court of Appeal in Owerri, where he was declared winner of the April 11 and 25 poll, had raised an alarm before the election that his Abuja residence was invaded and a policeman killed.
The incident was later denied by the Nigeria Police Force, Abuja and Umuahia, describing the claim as false in its entirety, even as peaceful demonstrations have continued in all parts of Abia State over the ruling of the Appeal Court, with Governor Ikpeazu and the PDP already seeking intervention of the Supreme Court.
