The Niger Delta Youth Council (NDYC) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to investigate all abandoned federal projects in the Niger Delta and also prosecute contractors handling such projects.

The call was contained in a statement issued and signed by Jator Abido and Ajeh Harrison the National Coordinator and Delta Central coordinator of the group respectively.

The group which expressed total support for the anti-corruption war of President Buhari ‘s administration noted that the abandoned Federal projects was amongst the remote causes of youth restiveness in the area.

“We have watched with amazement the brazen greed of our leaders and the rate of increase of abandoned federal projects in our communities as a result of their knack for dirty money at the expense of the development of our communities. Some of these abandoned projects are as a result of government insincerity on one hand and our people’s greed for unimaginable life of opulence on the other hand”.

“We have resolved to put an end to abandoned projects in our region by collaborating with all Federal Government agencies “the statement added.

While warning the contractors handling abandoned projects  to go back to site, the statement also stated that the projects must be executed according to specification even as the statement referred to the multi billion naira Omadino-Ukpokiti-Excravos Road and Bridge in Warri South Local Government of Delta State as  one  of the abandoned projects.
