Tennis events at the ongoing 11th Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville will serve-off on Friday.

Team Nigeria is in high spirit, with four men and four women, representing the country itching to have a go at the competition.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the players were seen training at the Vecoten Tennis Club in Brazzaville. The event would hold only on clay courts.

Russia-born Nigerian, Melissa Ifidzhen, one of the female players representing the country said she was indeed looking forward to face other players in the continent.

“We’re in good mood for the events. We’ve trained hard and expecting good results.

Her teammate, Elizabeth Pam, who is making her debut at the senior level, said she would learn from other top players in the competition.

“I am here to meet new players and make friends as well. I also hope to pick up new skills from them.

A confident Thomas Otu, winner, CBN men’s Senior Open, 2015, said he was ready for the battle in Brazzaville.

“I am here to win and my spirit is high and I look forward to a good outing in this competition as a member of the team,” Otu said.

The National female tennis coach, Margaret Oladunjoye, expressed optimism that the players would do the country proud in the Games.

Other players representing Nigeria at the tennis event are Clifford Enosoregbe, Moses Michael, Christian Paul and Sarah Adegoke.
