Super Falcons will be aiming to pocket another maximum point as the team faces Tanzania in the women’s football event of the All Africa Games at the Stade Alphonse Massamba-Debat in Brazzaville today.

The team had initially defeated hosts, Congo, 5-1 in the opening fixture on Sunday to move top of the group ahead of Cote d’ Ivoire. A win for the eight times Africa champion will automatically qualify the team to the semi final of the tournament with a game to spare.

Falcons coach, Christopher Danjuma, will be banking on the experience of Desire Oparanozie,

who is currently the leading top scorer of the tournament with four goals, to find the net for the team.

Nigeria and Tanzania have met once in a group game at African Women’s Championship in 2010 and Nigeria won 3-0.

However, Falcons captain, Evelyn Nwabuoku, has insisted that the team must not underrate Tanzania in order not to get punished.

“We need to stay focused and just keep doing what we have been doing,” she said.

“We will continue our adventure against Tanzania in the tournament. We hope to improve on our performance and hopefully wrap-up a place at the next round of the competition.”
