AACT: LGAN Commends Team Nigeria’s Performance In Tunisia

The 1st Vice President of Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN), Ekanem Ekweme, has commended the performance of Team Nigeria in the just concluded All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT) which held in Tunisia.
The Team Nigeria players which comprises three ladies, Amina Wilfred of IBB Golf Club, Abuja; Evelyn Oyome of IGC, Ibadan and American-based Nigerian Junior number one prodigy, Anita Uwadia ended 9th position of the 16 teams that participated.
Nigeria had a total team score of 524 over 54 holes; Uwadia scored a total of 246, while Wilfred pooled 278 over 54 holes.
However, Ekanem dwelling on Nigeria’s performance in a chat with Independent on Thursday in Lagos said that the team Nigeria players gave their best while the tournament lasted even as they were faced with unhealthy weather condition.
In the same vein, she lamented that the tournament teed off at a time the ladies were mourning the untimely passage of their (LGAN) president, Tima Animashaun, who was to lead the delegation to Tunisia.
According to Ekwueme who was the Team Manager, “The tournament conditions were very harsh with temperature as low as 0 degrees Celsius and the wind at 35-40km/hr.
“Yet, Nigeria place 9th out of 16th with a total team score of 524 over 54 holes despite the fact that they were mourning the sudden demise of their Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN) Mrs. Tima Animashaun.”
Concluding, the LGAN Vice President, Northern Zone said that Nigeria would build on their performance in subsequent tournament: “We’ll go back to the drawing board and work on the grey areas ahead of the next tournament.”
Other members of the Nigerian contingent include the LGAN Treasurer Mrs. Funke Majekodunmi, the Public Relation Officer (PRO), Queen Asanobi and among others.
