Benin – No fewer than 400 delegates of KOWA Party, one of the newly registered political parties, would be participating in the party’s governorship primaries scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, June 30, in Benin City.

The Edo State chairman of the party, Mr Otasowie Omigie, who stated this while briefing journalists in Benin, on Tuesday, said the party had met all the requirements for a successful primary.

He disclosed that only one governorship aspirant had fulfilled the condition necessary to participate in the primary which, he said, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), would monitor.

Omigie said the party, though a new party in Edo State, was ready to compete with the already-established political parties in the state to wrest power from them, if not now but in future.

According to Omigie, “So far, we have met all the conditions of INEC to conduct a successful primary come Thursday.

“Like you know, KOWA is new and we are basically out to educate people that politics is not do-or-die affair.

“What we are doing now is to basically bring orderliness into politics in Edo and we believe that the people should be educated to begin to show interest in politics.

“But very shortly, we will be ready to compete with the already established political parties in the state in a bid to wrestle power from them.”

Also speaking, the aspirant, Mr Thompson Osadolor, said he would be bringing fresh ideas into the governance of Edo, should he emerge the governor on September 10.

“We will also take the bull by the horn by creating hundreds of employment opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths,” he said.
