Wonderful Ilori, an emerging golf star has again lamented his failure to raise N30,000 for next week’s Ojerinde Memorial Golf Tournament billed for Otukpo, Benue State.
The Rosani Club, Ekiti academy prodigy said that he has exhausted all avenues to raise the fund to no avail, even as it was his dream to participate.
“I would not be able to make it because I can’t raise the funds I need. I need only N30,000 for the duration of the tournament.”
Ilori, who won the guest trophy at the 4th edition of the Insurance Open, in Ibadan Golf Club earlier in the year said, “I’ve been longing to play on the tour, but due to financial factors I’ve not been able to do so.”
Ilori hoped to participate in other tournaments to boost his career saying, “I would be happy to add up to my trophies and this means playing in more tournaments.”
“I would want to participate and win a trophy in one of the most sought after tournaments by pros and armatures (Ojerinde) in West Africa sub region, because it will be a great opportunity in my carrier,” he said.
It is also interesting to know that Ilori could not play at the third edition of the West African Golf Tour (WAGT) which held in Abuja in June owing to lack of funds.
In March this year, Ilorin won the Col. Ibrahim Taiwo 40th Memorial Tournament, at the Ilorin Golf Club, Kwara State.
The Ojerinde tournament which is billed for the St. David Mark Golf and Country Club, Otukpo will tee off July 4 and ends July 7, 2016.
