LMC Fines Heartland ?4.75m, 3 Match Stadium Ban

The League Management Company (LMC) has fined Heartland Football of Owerri ?4.75m for their failure to provide security and crowd control during their Week 28 league match against FC IfeanyiUbah at the Dan Anyiam Stadium last Saturday.
The LMC also placed a two-point suspended deduction on the club for hindering the video coverage of the game.
Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira was for failing to ensure restriction of access to restricted areas by unauthorised persons in the course of the match, which is a breach of Rule B13.52., while another N750,000 fine was imposed for failing to protect match officials.
One million naira was imposed because of supporters’ encroachment of the field of play and throwing objects towards the field of play immediately after the match in breach of Rule B13.18.
The LMC also fined the club another N1,000,000 for breaching rule B6.23. This was because their supporters hindered the complete video-coverage of the match, particularly the post-match scenes”.
Aside the fine, this also carries a two-point deduction but that the execution of the two-point deduction shall be suspended subject to a probationary period of the remainder of the season”.
The LMC in a statement also stated that N1.25 million being compensation to the four match officials and the Match Commissioner at N250, 000 for each of them.
The Owerri- based side will also play their next three home games behind closed doors starting from their 30 fixtures against Nasarawa United scheduled for August 7.
Also, chairman of Heartland Football Supporters, Mr. Iyke Jacob, has also been banned from all NPFL matches for the rest of the season.
The League body also directed the club to mark restricted areas and hold a workshop on good behaviors for their supporters as condition for reopening the stadium to supporters.
