Lagos – Ahmed Musa, Super Eagles forward, has expressed joy at signing for English Premier League champions, Leicester City, saying that he joined them because they are one of the good clubs he had admired earlier and wished to join.
Speaking to Leicester City TV, Musa said that he was looking forward to meeting his new team mates.
“I feel very happy to join Leicester City. They are one of the best clubs that I feel like joining and I feel very happy. I join them because they are one of the good clubs in the Premier League.
“As you can see, they are like a family. That is why I join them and I am very happy and excited about that.
“I am looking forward to meeting my team mates because it is not easy to join this club,” Musa said.
Meanwhile, Kano Pillars missed out on financial windfall from Musa’s N5 billion moves to Leicester City
Pillars will not get a dime from the reported £16 million (5.87 billion Naira) paid by English side, Leicester City to Russian club, CSKA Moscow for the acquisition, said Goal.
Musa left Pillars after his first season with the club in 2010 to Dutch side, VVV Venlo for an undisclosed fee but the Nigerian side did not insert any sell-on condition during the contract negotiations that could have made them beneficiaries in his future transfers.
Club spokesman Idris Malikawa informed Goal that Pillars have learnt a great lesson from the experience of Musa and few other players that have left the club without sell-on clauses inserted during contract negotiations.
“I want to say that we are not going to get anything from his movement to England because there was no such condition attached to his contract when he was leaving us some years back,” Malikawa told Goal.
“We have considered all these and we have decided that we are going to look into the future sales of our players so that we can still continue to get something from their future moves to other clubs.”
He disclosed that they were glad that Musa has realised his ambition of playing in the English Premier League.
