Lagos – Marcus Elisha, one of Nigeria’s professional golfers, bemoans his failure to win a trophy since turning professional in 2009.
The Kaduna Golf Club player in a chat recently with Independent did not conceal his emotions: “I just want to win something to justify my professional career in golf; I feel hurt about it.”
On the cause of his failure over the years, he said, “I just can’t explain! I’m always almost there every time.”
On a memory lane Marcus lamented, “During the second edition of WAGT at Ilara-Mokin, I was leading with five shots and somehow, I dropped. It was that bad.”
However on the way forward, Marcus who could not make the cut in the just concluded WAGT in Abuja said that he would have to work hard on his drive to get it right, refusing to be discouraged.
“Well, I want to believe that these are some of those hurdles I have go through to hit my target. I want to say I’m not discouraged at all, but determined to fight on,” he said.
Marcus revealed that his present focus would be on the forthcoming Ojerinde Memorial Tournament at Otukpo in Benue State.
