To fully appreciate the suffering and environmental degradation in the the Niger Delta, the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to take a trip to  the creeks and rural areas of the region and see for himself the abject condition the people in whose land the crude oil which is the main stay of Nigeria’s economy is drilled live in.

The militant group, which has claimed responsibility for the recent bombing of oil pipelines and other facilities in the Niger Delta, made this call on Saturday in a terse statement posted in its Twitter handle.

“The Nigeria President Buhari should visit  Ugborodo host to Chevron  crude oil Export terminal/EGTL gas plant, Ogulagha host to Shell Forcados Crude Oil Export terminal/tank farm, Bonny Island host to Shell Bonny Crude Oil Export terminal/NLNG gas terminal, Brass host to Agip/ENI export terminal, Ibeno host to ExxonMobil Qua Iboe crude export terminal. These are just the export terminals not talking about the numerous oil and gas flowstations and the oil Wells that criss cross the length and breadth of the Niger delta.

Mr. President come and see for yourself what the host communities are going through in the hands of Nigeria government and the multinationals,” the statement which was signed by Brig.Gen Moduch Agbinibo read.

It would be recalled that the NDA which is behind the new wave of militancy in the oil rich Niger Delta had also refused to participate in the dialogue initiated by the Presidency with a view to finding a lasting solution to the crisis in the region.

Militants Lists Bonga Field, Niger Bridges As Targets Of Attack On July 2

However, another militant group in the region, the Asawana Deadly Force of Niger Delta, ADFND,  that recently announced its emergence, has vowed to blow up major bridges and Bonga Field oil installation if the Federal Government fails to prevail on major oil companies to relocate their headquarters to the region,

The group, which recently claimed to have taken over from the Niger Delta Avengers, named the multibillion dollar Bonga Field as one of its prime targets. Other national assets on its hit list are Niger Bridge and Third Mainland Bridge.

Bonga Field, it said in a release signed by its leader, Commander Olomubini Kakarakokoro (a.k.a No Mercy), would be brought downSaturday July 2.

The group which said that the statement was not a “mere threat”  also want the federal government to move all refineries in the country to the Niger Delta region before the date of the commencement of the bombing.

“We are bombing Bonga field, Onitsha -Asaba bridge, Third Mainland bridge, and other major bridges across the southern part of the country, on Saturday 2nd July,2016.

“This is not a mere threat. The only way out is for the Federal Government to relocate all headquarters of major oil companies to Niger Delta. They are built with our oil money. They must be moved back to the Niger Delta region.

“If the federal government fails before the said day, we shall surely carry out the attack.

According to the statement the oil companies” headquarters which the group wants relocated to the region are Chevron, Agip and Shell which has their headquarters in Lagos but which operates majorly in the Niger Delta.
