LAGOS – Andrew Oche Odoh, current CMCL champion and Nigeria’s number one professional player is taking part in the Senegal Open, which ends on Sunday.
Odoh believes that taking part in the Senegal Open would help him achieve his quest for better world ranking.
The Cameroun Open champion Thursday told Independent that he would endeavour to replicate his Cameroun Open feat to justify his current form.
“I’m in Senegal to continue my quest for better world ranking. Playingmore of international tournaments will enable me to achieve the dream.
“I won in Cameroun few weeks ago and I’m here in Senegal to prove myself again, because all eyes are on me,” Odoh said.
The Senegal tournament which teed off on Tuesday and will end this weekend had top professional from across the globe vying for honours.
Meanwhile, the Otukpa, Benue State-born star lifted his fifth CMCL title over the weekend at the Smokin Hill Golf Club, Ilara-Mokin, Akure and won the N500,000 star prize.
To achieve the feat, Odoh shot five over (+5), six under (-6) even par and three under (-3) respectively, on total four under (-4), while Mike Ubi and Musa Ayuba are joint 2nd and 3rd on even par.
Odoh’s victory did not come as a surprise as he had in the second round of the set a new course record of 66 par to erase Sunday Olapade’s 67 par at the tournament in Ondo State.
Few days before the CMCL teed off Odoh pocketed about N1.2 million winner’s prize in the Port Harcourt Classic, a regional tournament which has $50, 000 prize for winners.
The Senegal open will be rounded off this weekend.
