Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has said that his administration would not be deterred by the economic crisis facing the country, insisting that he would fulfil his promise of developing the state.

Wike also declared that the era of abandoned projects was over in the state as his government would ensure the completion of every project embarked upon.

The governor, who spoke on Wednesday while inaugurating the new Abuluoma-Woji Road in Port Harcourt, stressed that no local government area in the state would be left behind in the renewal programme of his administration.

He said, “We must see to the end of any project we embark upon. I will never do any project that will be abandoned. We are not going to discriminate against anybody. No part of the state will be neglected. Yes, we have a dwindling economy but that will not deter us from developing the state.”

Wike urged communities in the state to always provide a peaceful environment for contractors to execute their jobs without any hitch.

The governor said, “Those of you living in Borokiri town can see what is going on in Borokiri and other communities; those of you living in Diobu can see the total rehabilitation of all the roads in Diobu.

“We will do everything we can to see that we make our people happy. No part of the state will be neglected in the infrastructure renewal programme of my administration.”

He appealed to the people to support his administration’s execution of projects for the benefit of the state.

“You can see the level of development in the state. That is why you should always give your mandate to those who will use it to implement projects for all people irrespective of political affiliations.

“We have shown that it doesn’t matter what political party you belong. Once a government is formed, it works for everyone,” the governor added.
