300 Athletes To Compete At Korea Ambassador Taekwondo Tourney

Lagos – A total of 300 athletes would be participating in the 2016 Korean Ambassador Cup (KAC) Taekwondo Championships holding in Lagos from December 8 to 10, 2016.

George Ashiru, President of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation (NTF) and Chairman, Local Organising Committee (LOC), recently confirmed the development, adding that registration will end on November 30.

Billed for the Indoor Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium, 13 teams have so far registered for the championship, which include Team Kebbi, Team Dynamic, Team Ogun, Team Uniben, Team Delateur and Team Rivers.

Others are Team Comprehensive, Team Edo, Team Golden Knights, Team FCT, Team Ebonyi, Team NSCDC and Team Body Dynamics.

Also confirmed for the championship include Team Kano, Team Lagos, Team Nassarawa, Team Police, Team FUTA, Team Niger, Team Ghana and Team Mali.

Ashiru revealed that free accommodation would be provided at the competition venue for the first 150 fully registered athletes.

However, the championship, which is expected to have the presence of the Minister of Youth and Sport, Solomon Dalung, will feature two fully Daedo electronic courts with head and body guards on octagonal mats.

In this regard, all teams are expected to have their electronic sensor socks as well as their medical insurance, which is available at minimal costs and other protective wears through the NTF secretariat.

Other dignitaries expected at the occasion include the former President, Olusegun Obasanjo and former Chief of Army Staff, General Muhammad Wushishi.

Highlight of the championship will be the presentation of Kukkiwon awards by the Korean Ambassador to outstanding national heroes and former officials of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation for its over 30 years history.
