Three persons, Okolie Esedume, Joseph Kachikwu and Elizabeth Ossai have been dragged before a traditional Court in Ogwashi Uku Delta state on charges of cassava theft.

Two people Ifeanyi Akpu and Vincent Dibia had dragged the trio to the traditional court of the community’s Council of Elders for their involvement in selling the cassava farm.

The complainants had alleged that Esedumu sold a portion of the farm belonging to the second accused person, Kachikwu to the third accused person Elizabeth Ossai.

They want the Council of Elders to determine whether the first accused person had the right to sell the portion of cassava farm, knowing it does not belong to him and to sanction the second accused person, Kachikwu for not reporting the matter to the appropriate authorities – the police or elders of Agidiase quarters

However when the matter came up before the Council of Elders last weekend at the Ogwa Diakpa of Ikelike Ogwashi Uku, the elders adjourned the matter to Thursday June 18 2015.

The council held that the case could not proceed following the absence of the first accused person who excused himself for another engagement but never came back until the matter was called up.

In their verdict, the elders agreed that the case be adjourned to June 18 to enable the first accused person Esedume be present and defend himself.
