Following the Super Eagles failure to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, the team has been charged to make the next FIFA World Cup a top priority.
Joseph Dosu, former Super Eagles goalkeeper, insisted that the failure to book a place in Gabon next year should spur the team to beat all-comers to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.
Speaking further on what the team should do to assuage Nigerians, who were yet to come to terms over the Nations Cup failure; Dosu said that the next World Cup should be non-negotiable for the team.
“Yes we are down but not out; the team can still redeem itself by qualifying for the World Cup,” he said.
“It is too bad that we will miss the next Cup of Nations, but it will be worse that Nigeria won’t be at the next World Cup no matter which country we are grouped with.”
Speaking further, Dosu charged the players and whoever is going to coach the team to know that they will either make or break Nigerians.
“The players should play with the right attitude once we commence the qualifiers. The hope of millions of Nigerians will be rested on their hands. Both the players and coaches will make or break Nigerians if we either qualify or not.
“We have the right players to do the job; all the players will require when the qualifiers start is the right attitude towards the course,” he admonished.
