2015 Nigeria Cup: Pros To Battle For N.3b

Golfers are set for action as the 2015 edition of the Nigeria Cup tees off on Saturday September 26, 2015 at the Ikoyi Club 1938, Lagos with N3 million up for grab.

The event, according to a release by the Local Organising Committee (LOC), is tagged, “7 Shades of Green” and would be organised by the Ikoyi Golf Community Nigeria Association (IGCNA).

Also, the “7 Shades of Green” is said to reflect the seven days of the tournament and the celebration of Nigeria’s Independent week through the game of golf.

Thus, each of the seven days will focus  on  a  different  category  of  events, which  will  highlight  a  different  shades  of Nigeria and golf colour which is green.

The LOC Chairman, Lanre Kalejaiye, said that the programme would commence with the children’s tournament; while Monday 28th, Tuesday 29th and Wednesday, September30th would be time for the Caddies, Ladies and Professionals.”

He added that the Independent Day Kitty scheduled for Thursday October 1, would be an exciting day of golfing for all club members to celebrate Nigerian rich heritage in the Arts.

Also, he said that the N3 million prize money was for the Professional  tournament,  which  is  aimed  at  motivating  professional  golfers  in Nigeria as well as the Nigeria Cup trophy for the winners of the Final.

The guests, veterans and sponsors will take their turn on the course on Friday, October 2 and the final will be on Saturday, October 3 which will be climaxed with a gala dinner.

The qualifier for the finals was played over the weekend as the chairman commended the tournament sponsors for their support.
